Breakfast: Black coffee, scrambled eggs, a couple of strawberries, avocado.
Lunch: Grilled chicken, brocolli, almonds.
WOD: Decided to do the power snatches I missed last week. Not great, still working on that darned jump.
Dinner: Romaine salad with turkey, tomato, carrot, and olive oil/lemon/honey dressing. A little dark chocolate.
This might be the last day of the challenge, but the two months have been sufficient to make this a permanent way of approaching food for me. Although I did achieve a little sustained weight loss (about 6 to 8 pounds), the biggest benefit has been the way I feel. No more heavy, bloated feeling after meals which used to be the norm. Why did I tolerate that for so long? I guess I just didn't know any better. My energy level has been more consistent, and I stopped taking most of the vitamin supplements I used to chug. I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but I haven't caught the pesky colds and other viral bugs people around me have had (I really noticed that since starting CF and the Zone). I'm not sure if I've gotten stronger, but before my foot injury, I was getting faster, and my split time on the rower, the light of my life, is getting lower. Recovery seems to be faster, and my resting heart rate is down to around 48 to 56. Cool.
So I will continue to practice the Paleo lifestyle. Like my friends OCD and TOY, I may re-introduce some dairy but on a much smaller scale than before. I'm thinking that grains are pretty much out except for an occasional bit of bread when dining out, and sugar treats have to be strictly monitored for I fear the return of the addiction! I need to try to expand my protein sources to include some fish, so I may be picking your brains for advice on how to prepare it. I didn't want to experiment during the challenge, I feared I might dislike new foods and fall back into old habits. So for me, the challenge continues. Thanks to Sarah for the continuous words of support, I found myself looking foward to her comments on our blogs. And a special thanks to TOY and OCD, you guys made this fun!
thank you!
