Missed the Hooter's Half today due to my very sore heel, but rode in the Royal Palm Classic, 30.1 miles on "Big Red", my Trek road bike that I haven't been on in months. Since my road experience is minimal and the shoes that clip into the pedals take some practice to get proficient with, I took the regular old-fashioned pedals off my hybrid and hit the road with sneakers. I was having visions of trying to get my feet out of the darned clips at a busy intersection and falling into traffic. Rode with my friend Wendy, the course took us from Buckingham Park through lovely neighborhoods in Lehigh (actually some pretty desolute and scary areas of Lehigh!). We had the required bozo whiz by in a pick-um-up-truck on Buckingham Road leaving about 2 feet to spare between us and him, and of course we got chased by a dog; a little noisy, cute beagle who tried desperately to keep up while snapping at my feet. All in all it was a good ride, and I need to ride much more this month before the Miami Tri.

Prior to the ride had black coffee and water. Took a Larabar with me and munched on it while riding. At the rest area I had half a banana, and at the end a naval orange. Afterwards, we went to Waffle House for breakfast. I love Waffle House. There is always a fly, it is required and present at every one I have been to. I had scrambled eggs, sliced tomato, and my big cheat, hash browns. They were delicious.

Another Larabar this afternoon.

Dinner: Turkey burger topped with sliced avocado and salsa. Very yummy!!

A bit of dark chocolate and a glass of wine should top off this evening quite nicely.

Congrats to all of you who finished the Hooter's Half! Now I have to find another one to enter as one of my goals this year involves a half marathon. Yikes!
