Found a Guinea fowl in the front yard and of course I tried to catch it. Who knew the darned things run like roadrunners? And I never guessed something so fat could fly. It flew onto the fence, bitterly yelled at me, the ended up in a tree in the back yard where it harassed the dogs. Once back on the ground, Rich and I herded it back through the gate into the front yard where it spent the night. I hope we might have a new resident.

I am looking forward to raising chickens someday to have my own fresh eggs from free range chickens, and after researching a little about our new guest, I also want guinea fowl. Apparently they are primarily bug eaters and rid gardens of pests, don't scratch up gardens like chickens do, are great free-rangers, and are often kept with chickens to "guard" them. I suppose our guy will move on since they don't like to be alone and I don't think the Muscoveys next door are going to be appropriate company, but it has been fun learning about the funny looking things.
We went on a bike ride in the blustery wind, I had intended on 20 miles but just did 10. The 5 miles out was into the wind and I could barely maintain 15 mph, but the 5 miles back was fast and easy.
Lunch: Turkey, orange, mac nuts.
Dinner: Turkey, romaine salad with red, yellow, and orange bell pepper, avocado, olive oil and lemon dressing, no honey this time.
